HERITAS International Workshop in Sicily: Immersion, Exchange and Community-Based Tourism
From 11 to 15 May 2026, an international workshop was held in Sicily as part of the HERITAS project.
This workshop brought together 20 Tunisian and Italian participants — 10 from each country — who are project holders working in the fields of intangible cultural heritage and community-based tourism.
The objective of the workshop was to create a shared space for exchange around Community Based Tourism (CBT), living culture, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism, while initiating participants’ reflection on the development of their projects.
Through immersion in the Sicilian territory, the participants discovered several local initiatives and good practices for promoting heritage, experiential tourism and community dynamics.
This immersive experience helped foster exchanges between Tunisian and Italian participants, enrich their reflections on their respective initiatives and lay the foundations for the next training phases of the project.
The programme will continue in the coming weeks through several training modules organized in Tunisia and Italy, before an international master class planned in Tunisia.
This project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT Italy–Tunisia programme.
