IDEMA project supports the efforts of the Tunisian government in the decentralization process as well as supporting 12 municipalities through technical assistance which aims to promote their economic development, improve the quality of their services and support them in understanding and implementing their projects, with emphasis on the participatory approach and taking into account the specificities and roles of women, youth and disadvantaged groups.
Animed supported the IDEMA Initiative for Efficient Decentralization and Attractive Municipalities” in the Development of the Specifications for technical and administrative conditions for labeling as a tourist municipality and stages of setting up a tourist circuit for several disadvantaged municipalities such as the Municipality of 'EL Krib.
These activities were implemented with local partners (municipality, regional authorities for culture, crafts and tourism) and in participation with the local communities.
It is a pilot project for a Tunisian cultural circuit based on Intangible Cultural Heritage, and in particular the theme of “Tales and legends” of the city of Kef, a disadvantaged region from the North-west of Tunisia. Designed and implemented in partnership with the Museum Lab association, it aims to inventory and record the intangible oral heritage carried by resource people in the Kef region for the vulnerability of this heritage and the fragility of its bearers.
This recording was carried out in accordance with UNESCO standards, in a scientific but also participatory manner by involving the local population. It also integrates new technologies and gaming to promote the territory of Kef through cultural itineraries and interactive experiences to attract tourists.
This project succeeded to attract new types of audiences and to create new niches for alternative and sustainable tourism.
This project owes its name to Magon, the eminent Carthaginian agronomist of the 7th century BC. BC and father of modern agronomy through his famous treatise. Thus, this wine route connects archaeological sites and museums with cellars to highlight the survivals of agronomy, gastronomy and wine in the Mediterranean, from antiquity to today.
It is a cross-border cooperation project set up between Sicily and Tunisia (ENP CBC Tunisia- Italy, 2007- 2013), to promote Mediterranean heritage through a cultural wine route.
Animed designed this project from the itinerary, to the signages and the interpretation and mediation devices and equipment, in the wineries, in the museums and the archaeological sites.
The itinerary benefited from the “Iter Vitis” label, the cultural routes of the Council of Europe, thus becoming the only official cultural route of the South of the Mediterranean and a project pilot in Tunisia whose approach is recommended.
The Cinetrip Tunisia project is supported by the “Promotion of Sustainable Tourism” project which is a joint action of the EU within the framework of the “Tounes Wijhetouna” program, and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by GIZ Tunisia in partnership with the Tunisian Ministry of Tourism.
The Cinetrip Tunisia comes in the component “Promotion of Sustainable Tourism” which supports the Creation of thematic routes that present strong touristic potential.
Animed is a member of the economic interest group (GIE) which manages the cinematographic route and which has 4 axes of development of the cinematographic route:
Development of filming sites: Project ideas to promote filming sites
The development and enhancement of services around the sites: Training and upgrading & project financing
Communication and Marketing: Promotional video, negotiation of intellectual property rights, etc.
Sustainability of the project through support for a road management entity (Governance and management).
The Tunisia Living Culture project is a jointly implemented project between the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, the USAID Visit Tunisia Activity and Animed in collaboration with the Agency for Heritage Development and Cultural Promotion and the Museum Development Division of the National Heritage Institute in Tunisia.
Starting from the fact that Tunisia’s vibrant intangible cultural heritage — gastronomy, craft, music, dance, and storytelling— is underdeveloped and often missing from the tourist experience, Tunisia’s Living Culture aims to support tradition bearers and their communities to create tourism experiences, where they can share cultural practices with visitors and directly benefit from tourism revenues.
Applying the research and community-based approach, Animed supported the development of cultural heritage tourism experiences and emphasized Tunisia’s commitments to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (2003) and brought together Tunisian scholars and cultural heritage professionals to highlight and examine work on the cultural heritage and to transform the heritage elements to sustainable tourism products.
Maken is a project aiming to promote and improve the visibility of Tunisian archaeological sites and historical centers mainly focusing on economically disadvantaged regions of Tunisia, which paradoxically have a great cultural resource, in order to promote it as a socio-economic lever.
The archaeological jewels of Kef, Jendouba, Siliana, Beja, Gasseerine, Zaghouan and Kairouan benefit from audiovisual communication and a web platform which encourages visitors to visit them by collecting the touristic and cultural products and experiences of each region and allowing reservation in line of local guides, accommodation or experiences.
The project was implemented in partnership with cultural heritage institutions, the Heritage Development and Cultural Promotion Agency (AMVPPC), the National Heritage Institute (INP) as well as the associations of touristic guides
