Analysis of cultural heritage skills needs
As part of the DIEM – Developing Inclusive Education in the Mediterranean project, ANIMED organized an online workshop on February 26, 2026, bringing together academics, institutional representatives, training centers, researchers, teachers, and experts.
The event gathered experts and institutional representatives from several key Tunisian organizations, including the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Tunisiathe National Heritage Institute (INP), the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC) and relevant local authorities involved in heritage management. Academic institutions also played an important role in the discussion, with participation from universities and higher institutes such as the University of ManoubaTunis Institute of Fine Arts (ISBAT) and Higher Institute of Heritage Crafts of Tunis (ISMPT).
Representatives from the cultural heritage and professional sectors contributed additional perspectives, including experts and practitioners involved in heritage conservation, research and promotion, bringing together a wide range of institutional, academic and technical expertise.
The session provided a platform for discussion on the challenges of skills development in the cultural heritage sector in Tunisia, with a particular focus on training needs and inclusion opportunities.
Discussions focused on the key competencies required, employment perspectives, and the integration of future DIEM training modules into existing academic and training programs.
